Theater Types

There are just a few types of home theater, most of which are the same in price, that should be considered when wondering about what kind of theater to choose. The following types does not include all types so if you have other ideas, please feel free to tell us about them!

Computer Home Theater
A home theater can be set up using software on a PC to run the whole system. This system is very similar to an AV Receiver and can act just like one. The computer will run a program that controls the remote receiver, video screen, and speakers. The difference between this setup and an AV receiver is that an AV receiver is dedicated specifically for transmitting the audio and video data at a much higher quality than the equally priced computer. However, the AV receiver does not come with its own video output from its own DVD drive or have access to the internet for online movie services.

AV Receiver
An AV receiver can manage almost anything you dish out. A good receiver can remember presets for different things you connect to it through the use of a universal remote. The receiver can be configured to use RF remotes which allow the user to press a button on the remote, and the receiver will pick up that signal no matter which direction the remote is facing. These receivers are designed to handle several inputs from different devices all at one time and, based on the user’s input, determine which device to display and play audio from. These systems are also very compatible with multiple speakers such as the 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 surround sound systems (mentioned below).

Backyard theater
The backyard theater is becoming much more popular these days. Device-wise, these systems are practically no different from an indoor theater, and they can consist of any of the other types listed here. Some outdoor theater systems consist of an inflatable projector screen which can be placed near the pool (and projected onto from the back of the screen) and some equipment is even waterproof. Many options are available here and there are practically no limitations from indoor theaters.

Surround Sound

We provide surround sound from a large range of types for your home theater! This includes the 5.1, 6.1, and even the new 7.1 systems. What do these numbers mean? The number represents how many speakers you have with the .1 being a sub-woofer speaker. We have the 7.1 system set up in our selection center for anyone to come and enjoy a free demo.
